Technical Business Analyst

£385 - £400 per day

The Business Analyst must understand PL/SQL to a strong level.

Description:

The Business Systems analyst role is a highly business focused role and requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both business and IT stakeholders, and communicate effectively in highly pressurised and fast-moving environments. They will set and manage the expectations of business stakeholders and act as escalation point.

Having a strong analytical perspective and technical awareness is essential, as is experience of working with technical analysts and end users to design & develop effective solutions. The successful candidate will have a proactive attitude who looks to identify, report and promote tactical and strategic opportunities to deliver both system and business process improvements. They will also be able read and understand Oracle PL/SQL for technical analysis, and be able use SQL to obtain data to support analysis and reporting.

Key Skills:

* Business/Systems analysis experience working in a large scale, complex system environment

* Demonstrated ability to identify, communicate and solve complex problems

* Experience of working with end users to design & develop effective IT solutions

* Producing requirements documentation and function specifications

* Excellent consultancy skills, eg workshop facilitation, presentation skills

* Effective relationship building, able to manage stakeholder expectations across multiple departments

* Ability to learn and adapt in a high-pressure environment

* Ability to deliver to tight deadlines, and respond to high priority situations

* Proficient in SQL for data analysis and queries and be able to read and understand PL/SQL (not coding)

* Previous experience working in an IT service management or support environment

* Previous experience in energy industry would be an advantage

Key Activities:

* Own and manage analysis of requirements required to fix and enhance the applications landscape relevant to EON Field operations business and Smart meter rollout programme

* Through functional responsibility for designated Applications provide progress reports and act as a key business contact and escalation point

* Proactively identify, report, promote tactical and strategic opportunities to deliver both system and/or business process improvements

* Run regular structured engagement with all levels of the business to identify improvement opportunities

* Facilitate and conduct end-user requirements gathering, utilising user interviews and data collection techniques to transform business requirements into solutions

* Formulate and define scope of complex system changes based on end-user needs or strategic requirements

* Document requirements, initially at a business level and then, collaborating with technical analysts, into a technical format

* Ensuring assumptions are identified and challenged so that value is reached with every change

* Lead and work with technical analysts throughout all phases of delivery to resolve any areas of conflict and ensure accurate estimates

* Facilitate smooth transition of high profile projects into Service Management
