Excellent opportunity for Oracle Database Architects to be part of cutting edge technology team working at a key client site in London.

Candidates should have SC clearance.

Cognizant Infrastructure Services - Provides IT infrastructure & Cloud services for clients across industry verticals, including both Consulting/Professional and Managed Services, across Enterprise Computing, Data Centres, End User Computing, Service Desk, Network Services, Environment Management Services, DevOps and Cloud.

The Infrastructure architect team under Business Transformation Services provides expert technical guidance to the project and programs at Client. The architect will be responsible for providing technical design and assist the required project managers in delivery of those technical designs.

- Ensure that the infrastructure designs are fit for purpose, well thought-through, clearly articulated, documented and compliant with standards, of good quality and can be delivered using an appropriate development methodology that aligns to the needs and constraints of the project

- Produce and maintain an over-arching view of all projects being delivered by the infrastructure Delivery team

- Maintain design standards and documentation, and ensure that the jointly agreed design standards and methods adopted by client and 3rd party suppliers are maintained.

- Maintain a document repository of designs to ensure the client has sufficient IP on legacy or in-operation systems.

- Ensuring appropriate infrastructure solutions and approaches are correctly priced for the requirement

- Proactively collaborate with other functions in IS in order to achieve successful and predicable outcomes for projects and for the overall long-term development of SD and IS, including:

- Business Analysts (BA) - for project pipelines & non-functional requirements

- CTO - for architectural roadmaps, strategies, blueprints

- Solution architects (SA) - for application / solution architecture and design

- Test Managers- for testing of the deployed solution

- IS Procurement - for the selection & monitoring of outsource partners

- TechOps - to ensure acceptability into the BAU operations environment

- Assist the Lead Infrastructure Architect/ Manager in any other administrative or Strategic/improvement initiatives

Key Responsibilities:

- Design Technical solution as per requirements

- Strong focus on architecture

- Good understanding of architectural concepts, methodologies and mapping approaches

- Experience of working with 3rd party suppliers and ability to represent ideas and intent robustly

- Ability to take an over-arching view of the technical challenges both within the client and its future transition

- Experience of stakeholder management at all levels; both internally and externally

- Demonstrate substantial experience in applying architecture principles to affect changes to a business environment

- Ability to take a holistic view of the organization and its infrastructure needs.

- Ability to grasp issues of a business nature and explain technical issues in business language

- Experience of working in a large standards-based corporate environment

- Familiarity with, or ability to quickly grasp, the business drivers of the client as well as its primary processes

- Sound commercial approach to identifying solutions

- Ability to apply strategic and innovative thinking to problem solving within a regulatory context

- Experience of data centre and database consolidation and migration at an enterprise level

Key Skills:

Specialist technical background in some of the following areas with focus on Oracle, Exadata and AWS

- Database and Middleware (Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion, Oracle Exadata)

- Experience of Control-M agents on Exadata platform

- Extensive Oracle Database experience Ver 8,9,10,11GR2 ,12 and OVM

- Experience of deploying ODI (Oracle Data Integrator)

- Experience with middleware technologies like BEA/Oracle weblogic, Tomcat, JBoss

- Unix and Linux (preferably Solaris and Oracle Linux)

- Experience with legacy windows and Solaris remediation/migration.

- Knowledge of application development, Continuous Integration and Deployment

- Architectures tools, and technology frameworks

- Experience of technology re-platforming, technology upgrade projects focused on Infrastructure

Technical Skills:

- Candidates will have experience of working within major corporate or government IT environments where good governance and quality frameworks are in place

- Experience in being managed in a matrix environment

- Ability to work with imperfect information whilst still maintaining high standard, evidenced designs and documentation

- Ability to provide expert advice to senior business and IS stakeholders on complex programmes and technical issues in a dynamic environment

- Strong risk management skills to manage architectural risk through the project lifecycle

- Good level of commercial awareness, the ability to understand supplier proposals and promote cost effective solutions

- Experience working with multiple solutions service providers

- Excellent understanding of the interactions between people, processes and technology

- Reliable, determined, highly motivated & proactive

- Can demonstrate innovative and creative approach to problem-solving

- Excellent verbal and written communication

- Good interpersonal and negotiating skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve results.

- A deep and up-to-date understanding of best practice application architectures

- Past experience of designing systems or components, ideally on large projects (£5M+)

- Experience of working in projects through the end to end project lifecycle

- Good overall knowledge of a broad range of technology and technology trends

- Relevant Infrastructure architecture skills with focus on end to end technical delivery and a good understanding of technical concepts, architecture methodologies and mapping approaches

- Experience with working with 3rd party or offshore suppliers to ensure the delivery of high quality designs that conform to the solution architecture defined

- Ability to author quality SAD (Solution Architect document) detailing end to end solution

Desirable skills:

DesirableExposure to following Technical Skills and Advantage but not a requirement

- Enterprise Storage Solutions (SAN, NAS, File store) preferably Fujitsu.

- Enterprise Networking Environments (WAN, LAN Ethernet) ideally Cisco.

- Knowledge of data architecture design principles, standards, and strategies, including areas such as backup, archive and retention strategies.

- Virtualization technologies (VMware and Oracle VM including Solaris Zones)

- Knowledge of Enterprise Security Infrastructure (Antivirus, Patching,

- Firewalls, IPS/IDS, Certificates, Secure file transfer, Active Directory)

- Experience of MS exchange integration with Minesweeper and Enterprise Vault

- Knowledge / experience of Cloud solutions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)

- A good understanding of the Financial Services Industry would be a bonus but is not a pre-requisite

- Ability to work with others to deliver continuous improvement

- High-level data modelling understanding and experience

- Experience of implementing frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, patterns, standards, guidelines and tools to be used for software architecture and then ensuring they are followed as well as experience producing RAID logs/risk registers and managing architectural risk through the project lifecycle

- TOGAF certified

- Experience with formal development methodologies (e.g. Prince2, RUP & Scrum)
