Test Engineer (Environmental Trials) - Southend-On-Sea

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Test Engineer to join one of world's leading Defence, Technology & Security organisations, within their prestigious Environmental Test Centre near Southend-On-Sea.

Responsibilities

* You will be joining a high performing team of multi-disciplinary engineers developing solutions for, and delivering, critical test and evaluation of defence related products through the application of vibration, shock, climatic & radiography test programs.

* You will supervise technicians in simulating some of the most challenging environments in the world to ensure that the systems are ultimately safe and suitable for service.

* You will work alongside with, and supervise, technicians to deliver complex testing of high value assets, assessing their performance within the demanding environments that the systems will be subjected to throughout their operational life.

* Define and lead set-ups and conduct environmental test programs in accordance with the customer specifications.

* Take responsibilities for adherence to working procedures, ensuring compliance with all safety legislation associated with the activities.

* Provide training and supervision to develop other team members as required.

* Liaise with the planning office to ensure delivery of test programs against contracted milestones.

* Act as the technical lead on assigned programs of work providing support to the planning office and customer representatives as required.

* Documentation reviews, data processing and reporting as required in line with customer specifications and company standards.

Required Qualifications/Experience

Essential;

* Minimum HNC in mechanical, electro-mechanical engineering, HVAC & Refrigeration etc.

* Environmental Test/trials experience - 5 years minimum

* A conscientious, methodical and logical approach

* High level of I.T competence

* Experience working in a heavily regulated environment

* Innovative person with imagination and ability apply it to practical solutions

* Driving License and own car

Desirable;

* Member of a professional institute

* LMS Test Lab (Data Physics) etc.

Security Clearance

If successful, you will be put through a Ministry of Defence SC clearance.
