Electrical Control Systems Engineer

Colchester, Essex

£30,000 - £40,000 + Bonus + 25 Days Holiday + Pension

Excellent role on offer for an experienced Electrical Control Systems Engineer looking to work on cutting edge equipment whilst having the opportunities to progress your career and become a technical expert.

This well-established niche company design and build bespoke state of the art automation equipment for various industries, including the automotive sector. Due to continued success they are looking to plan for the future and enhance their capabilities within the electrical controls and software areas of the business.

Responsibilities;

Whilst working alongside the Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be involved heavily with the electrical design of control and software systems, electrical fault finding, commissioning, test and verification of the machine tool systems. This will include PLC's, HMI's, variable speed drives, servo drives, safety systems, pneumatics and other ancillary equipment such as robots, vision systems and databases.

The position is multidiscipline and includes both electrical and software design roles. It is expected you would have proven experience in at least one area with the desire to expand into the other. This may suit an electrical design engineer who is keen to progress into software or a software engineer who is keen to gain electrical design knowledge.

We are looking for a smart and driven control systems engineer with the ability to look at the overall picture, proposing and implementing alternative methods and ways of executing tasks & projects that promote the continuous improvement of the control systems and software. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to carry out installations and commissioning of the equipment at customers sites throughout both the UK & worldwide.

Desired Skills and Experience:

* Knowledge & experience of automated control systems' design & implementation

* Basic electrical fault finding on PLC and 3 phase systems

* Able to edit PLC programs (Siemens)

* NC programming (Siemens)

* Programming robots & interfacing with machine automation systems.

* Understanding of Health & Safety and other regulatory requirements with the ability to comply with business processes.

* Highly effective written & verbal communications
