Resource Analyst, Change and Portfolio

The role of the Resource Analyst sits within the newly formed Change & Portfolio team in John Lewis - a team set up earlier this year to provide a centralised team of expertise in Change, Programme, Project & Portfolio Management. Together, we're responsible for delivering and landing over £200m of projects across John Lewis every year; including everything from major IT initiatives to opening new stores - all with the aim of ensuring the continuing success and vibrancy of John Lewis through an unparalleled customer experience.

More specifically, the Resource Analyst sits alongside the PMO Practice within the Change & Portfolio team, working for the Resource Manager. The Resourcing team's focus is on ensuring successful programme and project delivery by planning and managing the deployment of specialist Programme, Project and Change resource (c150 people) across all John Lewis projects. Alongside this core role, we also provide resource management support for the Store Planning department.

We recognise that we have some way to go to develop our capabilities and ways of working, and are looking for the role holder to want to play an active part in that journey. They will also play a key part in demonstrating the value of Resource Management within and beyond the Change & Portfolio team by developing a culture of knowledge sharing, coaching and mentoring and engaging and involving Partners.

Job Requirements

Key responsibilities include:

- Setting up, maintaining and owning tools, reporting and process within the Resource Management function

- Proactively seeking out opportunities to deploy Partners across all John Lewis projects to ensure effective utilisation of our people

- Influence portfolio planning and project phasing by holding future resource plans to determine if resource is available for projects yet to start

- Influence, share knowledge and best practice with Partners regarding benefits and advantages of using the new resource management function

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Strong analytical and decision making skills

- Excellent computer literacy and numeracy.

- Excellent organisational skills with accuracy and efficiency in record keeping and document management.

- Works well to deadlines and under pressure. Ability to prioritise their workload effectively.

- Good listening and communication skills (both written and verbal).

- Commercial mindset and business acumen including the ability to create and use meaning business MI to inform decision making

- Trusted business advisor who provides a balanced and pragmatic advice regarding workforce

- The ability to liaise, influence, and challenge effectively to build relationships at all levels and with multiple stakeholders
