This is an exciting new vacancy from an established global business, an innovative leader in their field; welcoming applications from experienced engineers who have worked within the Automotive, Piping or Oil & Gas industry.

Purpose of the role:

The experienced engineer is required to take on the lead mechanical engineering role for a complete project, utilising and directing junior designers and/or sub-contract designers as required. The engineer would liaise directly with the Project Manager and would represent the Mechanical Engineering department in all dealings with the customer.

Your daily tasks will include:

* To produce such mechanical designs, calculations, BOM's, drawings and documents as are required to support the bidding process and fulfilment of contracts.

* Perform calculations to design and analyse piping networks, including:

* Pressure loss calculations for liquids (fuel, water, oil) and air

* Pipe sizing, valve selection and specification (3 way control valves, ball valves, pressure regulation valves)

* Heatexchanger selection and specification

* Perform heat balance calculations for a complete test cell, and determine required ventilation flow rates.

* Prepare process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's) for cooling systems, fuel systems & ventilation systems.

* Prepare mechanical layout drawings (SolidWorks 3D) for test facilities, test stand assemblies and sub-assemblies.

* Prepare presentations and quotations, with appropriate software, to give to Sales or UK customers to facilitate the Sales and design review/approval process.

* Prepare build instruction documents for use by sub-contract fitters, and specify test criteria where necessary (e.g. pressure tests, flushing of pipes, proof loading of support structures).

* Prepare specifications for suppliers to tender against (e.g. piping installations, ventilation systems). Liaise directly with suppliers to finalise specifications, installation timescales, etc.

You will ideally be an experienced user of SolidWorks and AutoCAD and should be able to demonstrate experience in the design of:

* Machined components & Complex fabrications

* Fluid piping systems & Ventilation systems and ductwork
