Oracle DBA

Location: London

Starting: A.S.A.P.

Rate - £500 - 550/day

My client is looking for an experienced Oracle DBA to be responsible for the strategic roadmap in a number of upcoming migration projects.

Experience:

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 10 + years experience as a DBA

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 At least 5 to 10 years appropriate experience on: Oracle (including 10g / 11g), Unix/Linux and Windows

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Certified DBA a plus

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Financial or Insurance experience would be a plus

Technical Skills:

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Oracle database installation, configuration, planning, migration, upgrading, SQL, PL/SQL, T/SQL

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Oracle Enterprise Manager (10g and up), Oracle Grid Control

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Oracle database High Availability solutions including Oracle RAC

Other duties include:

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Install, configure, manage and maintain multiple Oracle databases

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Evaluate new specifications and requirements against available solutions

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Input into designs and implement requirements for Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), Data Warehousing, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP), High Availability and Load Balancing

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Recommend modifications for third party software products and act as a liaison to software vendors to meet user needs

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Recommend and monitor best practices and standards

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Perform replication, clustering, performance tuning and optimization (query optimization, index tuning, caching and buffer tuning)

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Manage Memory, CPU and I/O performance as well as assure database health

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Perform appropriate back up, restoration, patching and upgrades of databases (including DR)

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Database server administration

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Familiarity with database design concepts

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

Skills:

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Ability to use applications software, data structures, utilities, operating systems, and communication interfaces within the existing computing environment

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Ability to perform systems and applications needs analysis on database

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Knowledge of system/equipment capability, design restrictions, and security requirements

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Ability to identify hardware/software interface problems with the database

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Anticipate/forecast critical points and make adjustments to deliver to commitments
