Job Description

We're currently recruiting for a a senior member of the IT Data Team in Brentwood. You will be involved in the design and delivery of high quality systems and processes. The role holder will work on a project-by-project basis, developing IT solutions across a range of systems and applications as designated. You will gain great exposure to IT Porjects and the wider bank, managing key stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Keep up-to-date with new technologies and industry standards; seek self-development and opportunities to progress, learn new skills and maintain high quality work

- Proficient in data analysis, defect identification and resolution

- Support IT Data Manager and Head of IT to liaison with business colleagues in the areas of specification, estimation and testing of development deliverables

- Responding to allocated tickets, providing a timely and appropriate response to problems and issues across a broad range of software projects

- Resolve all development tasks within the specified timeframe, reporting to the IT Data Manager if the timescale cannot be met

- Effectively use the feedback from business users to keep the team connected to any issues before they become bigger problems. Feed and translate the feedback into development tasks to improve quality of the deliverables

- Where necessary act as a mentor for junior colleagues

- Contribute to the continuous development of the team

- Display great team spirit and loyalty towards colleagues whilst maintaining a high performance level

- Documentation creation and management

- Identifies and investigates data quality/integrity problems, determines impact and provides solutions to problems

- Ensure security and risk are the fundamental foundations for design, decision and delivery

- Deputise for the IT Data Manager when required

The Individual

Qualifications/Certification

- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree OR a minimum of 5 years of experience and/or training in the technical Business Intelligence field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Microsoft qualifications advantageous but not essential

Experience (type & level)

- Minimum of 5 years of recent experience in querying and analysing data sources in a Microsoft environment to understand the data and determine logic for data transformations

- Minimum of 5 years recent relevant technical experience with Microsoft data integration tools and/or EDW design and development in a Microsoft environment

- ITIL or similar - working within Change & Incident frameworks

- Ticket management

- Working with financial services or other regulated environment - preferred but not essential

- Data transformation from external sources

Technical

- SQL Server 2008R2/2012/2016

- T-SQL

- SSIS

- SSRS

- Performance tuning & best practises

- Conceptual, logical and physical data modelling

- OLAP database design and theory

- OLTP database design and theory

- Understanding of Infrastructure Architecture

- Able to interact with technical experts in other areas of IT to ensure that underlying architecture is correct and delivered

- Understanding of BI concepts and theory.

- Nice to have

- SSAS & MDX Experience

- Microsoft Excel power user, Visio

- Scripting experience (VBScript, C#, VB.Net)

- Qlikview
