Job Title: IT Platform Services Engineer - Linux

Location: Bournemouth

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 + Bonus + Benefits (Salary dependent on experience)

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Job Purpose

Overall Job Purpose

* As part of the Platform Services Team, ensure that the Linux and VMware estate is available and supported on a 24/7 basis.

* The role will also require the development and support of a Platform Services portal to provide service automation and orchestration.

Accountabilities

* Management and 1st and 2nd Line Support of the Vitality Linux/Redhat Server estate across all locations, Data Centres and Cloud

* Incident troubleshooting and resolution

* Build and implementation of any additional Linux/Redhat services as required

* Management and support of Storage Platforms and Backup systems

* Provision and development of Service reporting to drive continual service improvement

* Development of automation and orchestration tools and Platform services

* Collaborative working with the wider Vitality Technical teams

* Management of service within ITIL framework

Skills Required

* Extensive knowledge of implementing, configuring and supporting Linux/Redhat Server in an Enterprise environment - Redhat certified

* Extensive knowledge of configuration and support of Virtualised environments - including VMware

* Experience working with AWS and Azure Services

* Experience of Build and Template Automation / Orchestration tools

* Experience in managing and supporting Linux/Redhat patching and monitoring

* Experience of Enterprise storage and backup systems - EMC VNX and Data Domain

* In-depth troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis

Essential experience

* Managing and supporting infrastructure across multiple Data Centres - including Cloud

* Working within an ITIL governance framework for Problem, Change and Incident management

* Management of 3rd party suppliers

* Service Improvement planning and execution

* Development and management of service metrics and reporting

* Capacity, performance and availability management for Linux/Redhat and storage platforms

Essential skills

* Experience in working with and communicating with stakeholders

* Ability to work under pressure with demanding timescales

* Ability to work in a collaborative environment with other technical disciplines

* Ability to produce and maintain high quality process and procedure documentation

* Ability to develop and manage service metrics and reporting

* Ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision

Desirable knowledge, experience and skills

* ITIL V2/V3 foundation Certificate

* Degree in an IT related subject

* Experience of working within an organisation regulated by the FCA

* Experience of Service Now or similar service management platform
