Our client are currently looking for an experienced Nagios Development & Security Designer to work on an initial 3 month contract at their site in Swindon.
Applicants must have the following skills:
Essential:
Experience in working with Nagios range of firewall and security infrastructure
Experience in coding in some of the following languages, in a Nagios environment; Shell, Bash, Python, Java etc...
Nice-to-have:
Experience in working with EMC device management
Experience in working with industry standard network management protocols
Understanding of the principles and application of all common logging formats
Experience in working with vBroker and vMC products
Experience in working with McAfee range of firewall and security infrastructure management products
Experience in working with some or all of the vendor's range of security infrastructure management products. In particular F5, but also; Cisco, Juniper, Bluecoat and IronPort
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
oLead the development & delivery of Nagios network management for the vBroker, DLP, APi Open Banking & Malware Projects.
oDesign, test, implement and document Nagios code with the aim of delivering agreed, standards-based monitoring of security devices for NBS SOC to match or exceed contracted service levels.
oLiaise closely with the person in a similar role for the network tools
oRepresent and promote authored Nagios design documents through the NBS approval process.
oEnsure all tools meet the requires security standards
oWork to integrate tools, especially using EMC M&R to gather all monitoring information into a single place
oWork to integrate tool configuration, from the single inventory database, reducing or removing the need for manual configuration
oInnovate, for the benefit of both the client and the customer
oLiaise with the customer where necessary
oShare knowledge with the rest of the team
oLiaise with other security tools teams (IMPSS), to share ideas & developments
oAbility to make decisions even when faced with ambiguity
oAbility to engage and communicate clearly in order to motivate and inspire people to deliver
oSupporting effectively balancing the management of service, people, change & cost in the delivery of our strategic plan and day to day operations for their functional area
oSupporting building the necessary professional standards & capability personally and within functional area (professional standards; people management; business management; leadership)
oSupporting effective client Stakeholder Management including direct customer contact where appropriate
oThe role holder provides coaching and development for SOC team in all areas of Specific vendor Security technologies. This includes building vendor relationships and obtaining tailored and free training if available, media and material for the client.
oEngage in proactive risk management, identify potential issues and where necessary take appropriate action to mitigate risk
