Senior Risk Analyst - (Project Risk)

3 Month initial contract with scope for extension

Senior Project Risk Analyst contract position up for grabs based in Farnborough. We are looking for candidates who hold strong experience in Project Risk, as opposed to Financial/Physical Risk.

Skill requirements and job explanation:

The Risk Analyst within the Performance Excellence team will support the development and implementation of 'best practice' project risk management methods, and its implementation consistently across the varied projects and programmes of the overall business portfolio.

The post holder will support the Senior Risk and Assurance manager, and working closely with the corporate governance team to ensure that the installed risk solutions are aligned with the corporate Operating Principles and Operating Framework, and are aligned with the business enterprise risk management and reporting framework.

The role supports the development and implementation of appropriate risk management solutions to be installed and operated in a consistent manner across the complete business portfolio.

As appropriate, the role will also support the Risk Managers and project teams in the realisation of continuous improvement in risk management within each of the business areas.

This role will support the Risk Managers and project delivery teams within the business, in order to improve the delivery teams' expertise in appropriate and tailored project and programme risk management.

1 In depth knowledge of Risk Management methods and how to tailor these appropriately to project of varied complexities.

2 Working within the Senior Risk and Assurance Manager to develop and implement appropriate risk management practices within the business

3 Support the Risk Managers and project teams to develop and implement tailored risk management methods for all projects and programmes within the business.

4 Responsible for the continuous improvement of related processes and business performance reporting and for recommending improvements to corporate systems

5 Identify and recommending appropriate measurements and metrics to assess business delivery performance improvement.

6 Provide recommendations to the Senior Risk and Assurance Manager on appropriate risk management approaches and benefits realisation across the portfolio.

1 Throughout the project lifecycle

2 Supporting cost (CRA) and schedule (SRA) performance analysis

3 Supporting the Risk Managers and project teams on risk management implementation, performance and benefits

1 Responsible for ensuring that the appropriate tools are in place to support effective risk management implementation and reporting for the IDTs and business area

Experience and Knowledge:

* Specialist knowledge and application of Risk Management best practice and the application of risk management systems and implementation in support of improved project and programme delivery

* Strong analytical skills to identify appropriate metrics to assess and improve project performance by the tailored applications of risk management.

* Able to understand the broader operational implications of the risk management solution proposed and provide recommendations.

* Act at a detailed analytical level to develop solutions that are pragmatic and suitably tailored to the needs of the IDT/business

* Able to engage and communicate effectively with a variety of key stakeholders across the business

* Able to present the value and benefits of the proposed risk management approaches and solution to the senior stakeholders, using appropriate quantitative and qualitative analyses

* Expertise in the application of risk identification and risk evaluation techniques

* Expertise in the application of qualitative and quantitative risk models and analysis technique

* Experience in wider project management methods and techniques, and their application to risk management (e.g.. project planning, scheduling, Earned Value Management)

* Good commercial and financial awareness in the project environment are desirable

* Proactive and success-driven. Able to work with limited supervision towards a defined set of outcomes

Skills and Competencies:

* Proven record in the scoping, developing and implementing risk solutions across the project lifecycle, in a variety of project/programme and technical complexities

* Proven record in developing risk solutions that improve project performance

* Expertise in developing tailored and robust risk management strategies and plans, appropriate to the project/programme complexity

* Strong track record in risk management implementation including: risk management planning; quantitative risk analysis; risk response planning; risk register set-up, population and management; risk maturity assessment

* Experienced in collaboratively supporting a project delivery teams to identify and management project risk.

* A qualification or certification in Risk Management or Project Management would be an advantage

* Membership of an appropriate professional organisation is desirable (such as APM, IRM)

* Experience in the use of proprietary risk tools such as Active Risk Manager, Predict!, Oracle Primavera Risk Analysis (PertMaster), @Risk, Deltek Acumen is desirable.

* Security Clearance preferable
