Job Description

Purpose of role:

To assist the T26 CS Product Change Manager to coordinate the T26 CS Product Change activities with particular focus on those related to the delivery of the CS Communications solution; supporting and guiding the T26 engineering community and ensuring that the related processes are adhered to and that change, impacting the stability and outstanding risk associated with the CS design, is investigated, defined, sentenced and embodied expeditiously and within agreed timescales.

Responsibilities

Major Tasks and Activities:

1.Ensure T26 CS complies with T26 Central Engineering Change Management Processes and any developed internal CS only supporting processes;

2.Ensure Change Impact Assessment requests, originating internally and externally to CS, are distributed to relevant parties in a timely manner;

3.Ensure Change Embodiment is planned, i.e. Change Tasks are created and assigned, in a timely manner and drive forecast due date performance;

4.'Check Completeness' quality checks on CS change requests, prior to their consideration at PCBs, minimising rejection and need for rework;

5.As required by manager, attend T26 Product Change Board and capture CS related decisions and actions;

6.Attend internal CS only change forums, as required;

7.Provide guidance and support CS engineering community (Originators and Impact Assessors) raising changes through workshops and internal training/ process instructions (where not provided centrally on the project);

8.Provide Engineering Managers with information they require to target their team's effort to conduct impact assessments and embody change in their design in a timely manner;

9.Support Change Manager to compile CS Product Change Metrics and create various views, as necessary, to support technical and management stakeholders (such as TA, Engineering Managers, CAMs) in determining outstanding technical and programme risk and supporting decision making;

Key Outputs/Deliverables:

- CS Product Change Status Tables to contribute to monthly reporting;

- Support development of CS Change Management guidance to cover aspects not addressed in T26 documentation;

- Support development of CS specific Product Change Training material;

- Contribution to the prevailing T26 Whole Ship Maturity Metric (Dashboard) requirements;

- Ad-hoc reports as agreed with Product Change Manager.

The Individual

Key Knowledge/Experience:

- Understand principles of establishing engineering design baselines and of applying changes to them in a controlled manner;

- Practical experience of conducting impact assessments and raising change requests and placing them into a workflow;

- Understanding of PTC Windchill; Part and Document Management beneficial;

- Able to analyse metrics to establish current status of outstanding change and identify 'pinch-points' in the process and where management attention should be focussed;

- Able to identify and articulate process improvements;

- Engineering background, particularly relating to Naval Combat Systems, beneficial.
