£46,325 to £56,985 dependant on experience

My client is currently recruiting for an experienced Principal Safety and Environment Engineer to be based at the Devonport Royal Dockyard, the largest Naval Dockyard in North West Europe which employs in the region of 5,500 people.

The role sits within the Energy & Marine Technology business unit which is a leading design consultancy providing naval architecture, marine, system engineering, electrical engineering design and project support services to the offshore, marine and defence markets worldwide.

Responsibilities:

* Provide professional safety and environmental engineering support to surface ship, submarine MOD and commercial projects

* Provide safety and environmental case input to non-conformances and design changes for specified systems

* Support other members of the Safety and Environment Group in developing non-nuclear safety and environmental assessments or cases

* Plan and control of work to time, cost and quality

* Provide expertise and support in own engineering specialisation to other members of the safety team.

Requirements:

* Extensive knowledge and experience of conventional non-nuclear safety engineering management in the Sea Domain accordance with Def Stan 00-56 (Safety Management Requirements for Defence Systems

* Knowledge of environmental issues & legislation would be an advantage.

* Degree qualified in a related engineering discipline (HND/HNC level qualification with extensive experience in relevant field will be considered);

* Ship Safety Management Office (SSMO) Certificate ;

* Excellent communication skills

* Good people management skills

* Prepared and able to make decisions in own sphere of responsibility

* Displays flexibility, enthusiasm, drive and commitment

* Good influencing skills and customer focus

* Committed to ensuring design safety and prepared to challenge output when required
