Senior Software Engineer - Sheffield - PHP, LAMP, SQL, AGILE

My clients are currently looking for an experienced Software Engineer to design and implement complex software solutions. Also responsible in maintaining core systems and applications with using their technical skills to actively take part in defining the technical architecture. This role is based in the heart of Sheffield.

Responsibilities:

* Liaise with project stakeholders to understand key deliverables and requirements of projects. Convert these deliverables to detailed technical design

* Make decisions on techniques and technologies to be used to deliver business critical projects

* Take ownership to development projects, making sure junior members of the team is receiving the right level of support and guidance

* Assist development manager in continuously improve development processes best practices

* Take initiative for innovation and automation. New tools, processes to drive efficiency

* Monitoring of internal/ external systems using cutting edge technologies

* Update and create operation documentation for core systems and housekeeping

Key Skills and Experience:

* Be fluent in modern technical architecture and design practices. You will act as a coach the Technology team helping them to ensure

* LAMP,MVC,REST,SOAP,WSDL,XML, and associated web application architecture and design patterns

* An understanding of internet technologies

* Software solutions that are fit for purpose and adhere to U Account technology road map.

* Significant experience in designing and building high volume commercial web sites and applications.

* A strong communicator. You will have the ability to find the right level when explaining complex concepts to different types of audience.

* Previous exposure to working in a multi-channel environment, i.e. Web, widgets, mobile apps (iPhone, Android)

* A good understanding of server infrastructure technologies, and understand the benefits and implications of alternative infrastructure

* Technologies and approaches.

* Experience of automated functional and non-functional testing, continuous integration systems and continuous deployment.

* An in depth understanding of SDLC methodologies particularly Agile SDLC's (including XP and Scrum).

* You will have substantial industry experience and demonstrable knowledge of web technologies in a mission critical environment.

* Broad knowledge of industry best-practice and high quality engineering
