Whenever I speak to candidates, the common theme (or criticism) I hear is that job ads fundamentally miss 3 key factors - Who, What and How. So with that in mind, I have decided to tailor this advert and hopefully give you a better idea as to what I am looking for...

WHO THEY ARE:

'They' are a leading Software Consultancy providing state of the art bespoke software to a range of customers - thos customers span the finance, banking, public sector and retail industries to be exact!

They have won numerous awards for their commitment to technical excellence and are going through a sustainable period of growth. This role is primarily due to an influx of greenfield development and they are looking to hire experienced Software Testers to add value to an already strong foundation.

They are located bang in the middle of Edinburgh (10 minutes from Edinburgh Waverley to be exact) with excellent commuter links and have modern offices and a friendly working environment.

WHAT THEY NEED:

This part is simple... they need experienced Software Testers (Mid to Senior) with a background in core Automation Testing. Due to their variety of customers, they are not restricted by one particular technology and believe the key to successful customer service is utilising the technology that best fits the customer's need. With that in mind, they are looking for applicants with a varied technical knowledge (Java, C++, .NET, C#, SQL, AWS, Azure) who want a challenge.

Automation Testing experience is crucial so a background in end-to-end Automation (Selenium, Jasmine, Protractor) is a given. Experience in a DevOps environment would also be highly beneficial, as would commercial experience of both Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration. Furthermore, the company are fully Agile so a background using Agile/Scrum methodologies is vital to be considered for this role.
