Job Purpose

Public Health England is seeking an enthusiastic, committed individual to undertake the role of Systems Analyst working with the ICT department. This role is primarily focused on supporting PHE’s scientific and operational directorates by understand their ICT needs, translating these into technical specifications and working with ICT engineers to design a suitable solution. It will then work with all parties to support successful implementation and will design and oversee the test plan. The job holder will also critically examine PHE’s technical landscape and guide the organisation to a more cohesive corporate solution. This role will be a key point of reference within PHE ICT and will engage with a range of stakeholders and decision makers to provide guidance and influence final outcomes.

We are looking for…

A highly motivated self-starter who can demonstrate extensive experience of business systems analysis and solution design. Your energy and commitment will inspire those around you and build confidence in your abilities and those of your team. You will have an authoritative grasp of analytical methodologies and technical design terminology, but be able to translate this for non-technical colleagues and present ideas in an accessible manner. Your communication and stakeholder management skills will be second to none and you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of thought leadership and influence at a senior level.

You can demonstrate good leadership skills that have allowed you to deliver improvements in quality, technical standards and customer satisfaction. You must be able to organise your time well and be able to respond to occasionally challenging deadlines, whilst being able to accommodate changing priorities. You must be confident and credible, able to influence and build consensus at the highest levels of the organisation.

As the remit of the organisation is to protect the health of the public, which is a 24x7 requirement, you may also be required to participate in an out-of-hours support rota which provides support cover for ICT emergencies, ensuring, in particular, that the services for which you are responsible meet the service delivery criteria. Much of this work is undertaken remotely, so can fit in with family responsibilities.
