Role Profile

Our Central Government Department client are in the process of updating a number of legacy technologies across the business, especially within the mobile, telephony and unified communications domains. As such, they are looking for a Technical Programme Manager to act as a senior technical engineer and assist in the development of a new culture of technical excellence across the business. The Technical Manager will be tasked with defining a new strategy for integrated collaboration across end user compute devices, mobile devices, in room experiences and traditional voice services. The successful candidate will also be directly and indirectly responsible for approximately 20 staff and will be required to liaise with third party suppliers, ensuring value for money and fast-paced progress across the programme of work. Due to the nature of the work the candidate will either hold current SC/DV clearance or be willing and able to undergo clearance to SC level.

Key responsibilities

* Definition of a new strategy for integrated collaboration across end user compute devices, mobile devices, in room experiences and traditional voice services

* Migration of on premise exchange to Office 365

* Migration of on premise OCS to Skype for Business

* Replacement of existing legacy telephony services including secure communications

* Working with Head of Network Engineering to enhance the network to support services

* Support an increase in mobile solution and a new Integrated Communications capability

* Build a team who drive delivery at pace, deliver consistent high quality reliable services and provide support to the wider business in a consultative manor.

* Support a video first strategy across the organisation, supporting anytime, anywhere, any device values.

Key Skills/ Experience

* Strong technical leadership qualities; a passion for designing leading-edge systems and the ability to inspire a culture of technical excellence and innovative solution design.

* Experience of working with 3rd party suppliers through contract bid, negotiation, grant and delivery phases

* Experience managing Human Resource activities, including interviewing, selection / hiring, and conducting performance assessments

* Demonstrate a deep technical understanding of the design and engineering of collaboration services to support a highly automated strategy and deliver to robust reliable and secure services

* Evidence a strong track record of managing complex technology projects within time, cost and quality targets

* A strong degree in a technical discipline, ideally Computer Science or related would be beneficial

* Relevant technology qualifications in collaboration services, such as Microsoft and/or Cisco
