Our client, the largest independent integrator of Cloudstack platforms and experts in the implementation of IaaS Cloud infrastructure for companies worldwide, are currently on the lookout for Senior Software Engineers to join their new Java development team based in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in cloud technologies, with previous experience on IaaS Cloud Platforms highly beneficial. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and independent software engineer in the Java space, who can be a self-starter in the company, whilst also mentoring the Junior Software Engineers in the team where necessary. Previous working experience on or development of distributed systems will be highly beneficial. A strong interest in networks and system administration is necessary and experience within the DevOps space is a bonus. This role will require a lot of learning and training in the company's systems and in the cloud space, and demonstrable Open Source projects and work done outside of work will be highly regarded. Even the most senior of Software Engineers can come into this company knowing they will have the chance to learn new technologies and gain excellent exposure A strong experience with Spring and Maven is required, along with exposure to Linux/Ubuntu environments. DevOps experience of configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef is a bonus, and knowledge of Kubernetes would be great. The role, within an international company, will see occasional international travel to attend international Open Source conferences.

Skills:

Strong experience with Core Java

Expert with Linux

Previous experience of Cloud Services

Knowledge of IaaS platforms

Experience working on or developing on distributed systems

High communication and soft skills

Desirable:

Experience with APIs

DevOps/Sys Admin/Network knowledge and experience

A university degree in Computer Science or a related subject

Salary: R60000 - R68000 PM CTC
