Web Developer

Location: Coventry

Salary: £12,974 approx

Hours: Part Time, Fixed Term Contract

The Union is currently embarking on an exciting year-long website development project. To support our existing Web Developer during the lifespan of this project, we are looking for a flexible and skilled Web Developer to develop and maintain the current Union website, micro-sites and mobile app.

Please note this is a part time, fixed term contract until the end of July 2018. Hours would be approximately 18 per week and we would be happy to discuss how these hours could be worked throughout the week with the successful candidate.

Salary: Approximately £12,974 (pro rata of actual annual salary of £25,949) plus excellent holidays and contributory pension scheme.

Who Are We?

Part business, part charity, part membership body, the union is a vibrant place to work.

An independent organisation in our own right, we are professionally run, but different. Our talented teams support elected student leaders to make change, improve lives and fulfil potential; we empower them to make all this happen.

The union is one of more than 550 students' unions across the country. And with more than 24,000 members, over 250 societies, 70 sports clubs, hundreds of elected representatives, a huge range of services and a bold strategy, we're one of the most exciting.

What's the job?

Working closely with the full-time Web Developer, Communications Coordinator, Design Team and reporting into the Communications & Marketing Manager, the role will be responsible for maintaining and updating the current WSU website and microsites, developing functionality where needed, uploading content and ensuring the site is accurate and representative of the Students' Union identity and ethos.

You will also be required to carry out adhoc administrational tasks to support the organisation in making best use of the website and digital channels for our benefit of members.

Who you are:

This is a dynamic and varied role and you will be a solution-focused, technically astute and organised individual with good communication skills. You will also possess:

* a strong knowledge and understanding of HTML and CSS

* aware of best practices for web accessibility

* experience of responsive web design and development

* knowledge of working with Google analytics

* knowledge of how to develop HTML table based emails

* experience of working with Photoshop and Illustrator

* wireframing, producing visual design mock-ups and HTML prototypes

* someone who enjoys variety and diversity.

* you will have high standards and an attention to detail.

Why Apply?

The exact opposite of corporate, we're progressive, passionate individuals working to make a difference in unconventional workplaces.

In return for your enthusiasm and experience, we offer the flexibility for work-life balance, a competitive salary for the non-profit sector, a contributory defined contribution pension scheme and excellent holiday allowance.

We're committed to equality of opportunity for all. We welcome applications from individuals regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, or disability status. We want to support diverse and inclusive work environments and are actively looking for people who share our values.

Whoever you are, we'd love to hear from you.
