Human Factors Specialist

A market leading FTSE 100 Defence organisation is currently recruiting for a Human Factors Specialists at all levels to take on permanent positions ASAP. The company is highly regarded for its employee recognition and vital position in today's market place. You will be a driven individual who is looking to work in a fast paced environment with supportive team in a diverse and challenging environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for human factors professionals to become involved in working on diverse and complex high hazard industry projects that support the maintenance of ships and submarines of the Royal Navy.

The main responsibilities of the role are as follows:

* Supporting the human centred design development of engineered systems and processes to optimise human performance.

* Providing professional human factors support into the safety case development, assessment and substantiation of high integrity systems and processes that are central to maintaining the safe operation of our business;

* Supporting the development, and implementation of the human elements high integrity systems and processes within the operational organisation.

The successful candidate will display the following skills, experience and qualifications:

* A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. (Behavioural science (Psychology) / human factors related discipline or engineering / design with high ergonomics content (all levels)).

* A relevant MSc in Occupational Psychology / Industrial Psychology or Human Factors / Ergonomics (Senior / Principal Levels) is preferable.

* Chartered membership (or working towards) of the British Psychological Society or Registered Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (Senior / Principal Levels).

Desirable skills and knowledge to include:

* Experienced in applying human factors / behavioural science knowledge, principles, methods and techniques to support the human centred design development and evaluation of system user interfaces (HMI and HCI), workstations and workspace environments.

* Experienced in the use of human factors / behavioural science methods and techniques to support the development and evaluation of systems and processes (e.g. task analysis, error analysis and workload analysis techniques).

* Have a working knowledge of human factors / ergonomics codes and standards (e.g. British Standards / UK Defence Standards) and their application to the design development of work systems and technology;

* Be able to evaluate the effectiveness of operational processes from multiple HF Domain perspectives.

* Experienced in the safety assessment process applied within high hazard industries (ideally nuclear) and how the human factors discipline supports the safety assessment process;

* Experienced in Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) and the use of Human Error Quantification Techniques to support the HRA process.

* Have knowledge of a Systematic Approach to Training methodology and how to develop effective training programmes for high hazard industry process stakeholders.

* Experienced in building effective relationships with customers and stakeholders;

* Experienced in behavioural and organisational change methods and techniques;

* Strong written and oral communication skills;

* Project Management skills and experience in leading teams.

* Knowledge of business culture and organisational change.
