An innovative medical devices company is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The role requires knowledge of a wide variety of mechanical engineering principles. This role will focus on creating current and conceptual designs and prototyping as well as flexibility with shifting objectives and pace based on meeting milestones supporting group objectives. This individual will also provide technical direction and guidance to junior level engineers.

Responsibilities -

* Define system architecture of all Mechanical systems, work with teams and drive it through the organisation

* Development, fabrication & qualification of test equipment for product characterisation and design verification.

* Development and execution of bench tests for prototype performance characterisation

* Project schedule creation and maintenance

* Engineering drawing creation and review

* Preparation and execution of Verification and Validation Testing

* Formal test protocol development, review, and execution

* Participation in design and process FMEAs

* Production Design Engineering support as required

* Develop manufacturing

* All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.

* Experience in management of external suppliers.

* Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.

Essential -

* Experience working within a highly regulated industry

* Experience in MEMS

* Background in Physics to analyse and model system behaviour

* Strong background in modelling complex mechanical systems to better understand system performance at various stages

* Experience in plastics design, injection moulding and machining.

* Experience in mechanical design and development of medical devices.

* Working knowledge of rapid prototyping, material selection, product design and process specifications.

* Working knowledge of Design for Six Sigma, Design of Experiments, Statistical Analysis, Design for Manufacturing methods.

* Knowledge and experience with medical device materials and bio compatibility testing.

* Experience in mechanical or electromechanical assembly design

* Experience in product design and development in an R&D environment

* Clean-room experience

Desirable -

* Experience designing microfluid systems is a plus

* Experience working to ISO13485
