General Description of Job:

The role of the IS Business Analyst Fleet & Service Excellence is to be the expert in the Fleet, Service Excellence and Engineering systems used across the Business Unit (BU) including those systems provided by the MOD for the use of employees. This will include the extensive Business Intelligence (BI) and other fleet management and analytical solutions to be implemented in the Hub.

The post holder will be expected to both respond to tactical and strategic requests from the business and as well as proactively identify and promote opportunities for improvement to the business.

The role includes understanding the underlying technology as well as the capability of the solutions in order to determine feasibility of requests from the business and deal with technical consultants from Sector and Group IS, 3rd party support companies, partners and consulting organisations.

To understand the constraints of time, quality and cost in order to provide the best solution to the business as well as support and guide Divisional and Group IS solutions that needs to be implemented within the BU to ensure the greatest benefit to the business unit.

Main Tasks:

* Ability to support key business stakeholders in defining the User Requirement Specifications.

* Optimise the use of standard configuration to provide the business with a solution, thus minimising changes to the system. Understand how to effectively customise the system when it is required

* Analyse and present the gaps between the current solutions and the expected business requirements to the business teams

* Ability to define technical specifications and business requirements in order to work with other teams within and outside the business as required

* Ensure that non-ERP Fleet & Service Excellence and Engineering processes and practices are consistent with ERP processes in those areas (currently Baan but in the future SAP)

* Lead ERP changes related to the Fleet & Service Excellence and Engineering processes through IT Maintenance or IT Project activities

* Support the Fleet, Service Excellence and Engineering teams and work with key users.

* Ensure harmonisation of approach on each site, including documentation, change management and testing

* For Fleet & Service Excellence and Engineering IS projects, review and recommend optimal staffing based on project progress, status, issues and phase of the project

* Review quality of external suppliers and group consultants work on a continuous basis

* Assign work packages as required to the team members or support the external consulting team lead to do so

* Provide training to key users and/or end users on ERP Fleet & Service Excellence and Engineering modules and systems used by the BU

* Provide overview training on configuration in the Fleet & Service Excellence and Engineering modules of the ERP system in order to allow other Business Analysts to acquire an overall knowledge of the modules used by the company

* Have overall knowledge of all the ERP modules used by in order to support the users when the Business Area Specialist is not available

Technical Experience and Qualifications

* Extensive knowledge of the Fleet Management Solutions

* Extensive knowledge of Engineering Support Solutions used for the task/resource configuration of products and services.

* Extensive knowledge of Management Information/Business Intelligence solutions including Predictive Analytics, Modelling and Simulation tools

* Strong experience of data modelling techniques and data integration solutions.

* Experience of the importance of implementing Master Data Management and Data Quality tools

* Experience of using of SAP BW/BI and/or Business Objects and/or Qlikview

* Analytical and consulting skills gained in a manufacturing or MRO environment

* Knowledge of the MOD applications used by Supply Chain in order to deliver the contracted services for our customer

* Experience of Enterprise Service Bus toolsets such as MS Biztalk and/or the SAP Integration tools

Skills Profile:

* Strong commercial experience with 4+ years' experience in a manufacturing and/or MRO environment

* Degree or equivalent in a computing or business related discipline

* Excellent organisational, communication both verbal and written, and leadership skills

* Ability to assist staff with complex issues

* Experience of managing 3rd party vendors/ subcontractors/consultants

* Experience of managing small to medium sized projects

* Must be able to interact with people from all functions at all levels

* Excellent business knowledge

* Excellent customer facing skills

* Customer focused, understand the needs of a rapidly changing environment

* Ability to support the business design process by evaluating the mapping of the existing and future ERP solutions against the business requirements

* Ability to suggest another solution when technology adds complexity or excessive costs
