Systems Engineering Manager - Product management

This is an immediate requirement for a Systems Engineering Manager or Lead Systems Engineer with experience of acting as a Technical Manager on the delivery of complex systems.

A great opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineering Manager to work for a leading Electronics design company in the Dorchester area. This Systems Engineering Manager role will be working on a number of new programmes and products being developed for both the UK and international markets.

They currently have a very strong portfolio and have are getting involved in some very cutting edge technologies. Your role will be to own a single product line and also act as a key member of the customer facing team. You will also take on some man management, project manager and commercial responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will ideally have proven experience in systems engineering across the full lifecycle but be willing to specialise in one half of the V-model.

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities for this Systems Engineering Manager role

- Accountable for the delivery of technical outputs by the team to time, cost and quality; applying project management methodologies/tools and system engineering principles/tools

- Build and develop positive relationships with a wide range of internal and external customers

- Approval of technical costs of work packages at bid and contract stages ensuring added value is maximised by working with work package leads to develop cost efficient technical solutions within the budget allocated; reporting progress and cost to completion to Project Managers; identifying and active management of risks, making accurate risk assessments when committing the business to major decisions

- Identify technical advances to support customer's benefits and opportunities for new business

Requirements for this Systems Engineering Manager role

- Systems engineering practitioner experience

- Mechanical/Electrical/Systems/Electronics/Software/Sciences Engineering Background preferred

- Good working knowledge of System Engineering Lifecycle processes and tools

- Understanding of project management principles and practice

- Technical management delivery experience as a supplier/integrator. Understanding of estimation, costing, pricing, contract, tender and bid processes

- At least Degree or HND/HNC qualified, having achieved or working towards Chartered Engineer status

- You will be required to work in a high paced environment that requires the ability to use your full breadth of knowledge and skills in a flexible and responsive manner

- Highly motivated, energetic, able to see the big picture

- Effective time management within a multi-tasking environment
