Team Overview
Schroders Global Technology (GT) is distributed across Schroders' global offices, with technology hubs in London, Luxembourg, Singapore and New York.
The software engineering and technology change function is split between 4 domains:
Investment
Distribution and Product
Corporate
Digital
In addition there are teams which operate as shared services to provide Technology Infrastructure, Production Services (production support, release and access control), Quality Assurance, Information Security and Business Management (change management, assurance and reporting).
Our application estate is comprised of commercially available off the shelf software packages best suited to Schroders’ operational needs, complimented by a number of internally developed proprietary systems.

Overview of role
Within the Investment domain the Capability Lead for Portfolio Services is a development manager leading a number of agile teams aligned with the following business capabilities:
Investment Accounting
Reconciliation
Transaction Processing
Asset Servicing
Collateral and Margining
The ideal candidate will be familiar with the principles and practices of Lean-Agile leadership and will play a key role in providing technology leadership and developing product strategy whilst ensuring efficient operation of the teams. They are accountable for the delivery of value for the capabilities that they manage.
Key duties
Line management of the GT team members within capability aligned agile teams
As a member of the Investment Operations Technology Management Team contribute to department initiatives and delivery
Accountable for financial and operational performance of the agile teams and their contributions to the Agile Release Train
Take a product centric view on the technology strategy and ensure alignment with Enterprise Architecture vision throughout delivery
Ensure delivery is in line with GT policies and standards as required
Provide technical leadership to the team and drive innovation
Support the Portfolio Service business’ Product Owners to refine the backlog and ensure priority is given to a suitable balance of business delivery and technical and architectural enablers
Coach Product Owners to improve their technical understanding of the product(s)
Support Epic Owners in understanding the technical impact of Epics and facilitate engagement with the appropriate agile teams
Ensure appropriate technical sequencing of change and manage technical dependencies between Epics, GT Capability teams and shared services
General and Technical skills
Experience of managing people within large software development teams
Knowledge and experience of using Agile methodologies (SAFe ideally)
Knowledge and experience of developing technology solutions, both in house bespoke applications and off the shelf solutions in a range of technology stacks (Microsoft, Unix, etc.)
Experience of working with vendors and facilitating delivery via offshore service providers
Knowledge of Investment Accounting platforms (e.g. SimCorp Dimension)
Strong communication skills, experience managing relationships with board level stakeholders
Able to influence and guide people, processes and technical solutions
Excellent understanding of the business context of the Capabilities
Ability to communicate how the features and stories delivered by agile teams contribute to the vision and strategy of the firm
Provide insightful thought leadership on technical and business topics
Demonstrable delivery experience at all stages in the application lifecycle from RFP to execution of technical implementation
Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
Qualifications
Certified Safe Agilist (SA) preferred (training can be provided)
