About you

We are looking for an ISEB/ISTQB-qualified Test Analyst with demonstrable experience of testing business applications and who has practical experience of structured testing techniques, full test lifecycle and risk based testing.

As a member of a small team the Test Analyst may be required to perform testing in relation to any of the systems used by UKEF and will undertake these activities:

1.Review requirement specifications and determine their suitability for defining appropriate tests

2.Define test environment and test data requirements

3.Prepare test environments and test data

4.Plan, define and undertake system and integration testing within multi-disciplinary teams

5.Record incidents arising during system and integration testing and re-test after application of remedial measures

6.Work with end users on preparation and execution of acceptance and test scripts.

7.Provide testing advice within projects

8.Document test activities and production of progress reports/ metrics

9.Close liaison with Test Manager

10.Perform static testing (review) of documentation.

About the Division

The Information Technology Division (ITD) is responsible for the provision of IT services to all UKEF users. The Division has three principal areas of responsibility:

1.The provision of IT infrastructure and services for the business;

2.The definition, development and testing of bespoke software for the Department;

3.Responsibility for the overall IT architecture and alignment to government standards.

CEDAR, the corporate data warehouse, supports departmental reporting requirements. It is the repository and master source for externally sourced non-transactional data and it provides data to other systems.

SharePoint applications include:

The UKEF intranet;

Corporate document management system;

A range of project and collaboration sites.

The departmental data warehouse system and multiple SharePoint implementations are subject to continual development. Other recent and ongoing initiatives include:

Implementation of a Customer Relationship Management System;

Development of a customer-facing portal and associated workflow application;

Creation of a database of the companies and organisations that UKEF interacts with.

There is a requirement for testing to be conducted in relation to all of the systems referred to above and for other bespoke and commercial applications as they arise.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of two phases, as detailed in the following sections.

Initial Screening

An initial sift of your CV will be conducted against the Essential Criteria.

If your CV demonstrates experience of these Essential Criteria, you will be contacted to arrange a telephone-based screening. This will further assess your experience against the Essential Criteria and will be carried out by UK Export Finance.

The applicants with the best skills and experience at telephone interview stage will be invited to interview.

Interview

If successful at telephone interview, you will be invited to a face to face interview where you will be required to provide evidence as to how you meet the competencies and technical requirements of the role. Interviews may include an additional assessment or presentation exercise. You will be informed after the interview if you have reached the 2nd stage of another formal interview with the Deputy Head of IT.

You will be required to bring with you evidence of applicable qualifications and certifications.

Interviews will take place at UKEF’s main site in Westminster.
