Service Reliability Engineer - Application Management

For our client, a well known international IT company, we are looking for an Service Reliability Engineer with focus on Application Management.

General:

As a member of the Application Management team the Applications Manager objectives are, to:

· building up own expertise for SI and middleware applications participating in problem management reviews and supporting incident recovery activities

· build and install new application servers under supervision of an experienced team member.

· Participate to project implementation and ensure operability of solution being deployed in production.

· To achieve your objectives you will closely collaborate with Development and other operation groups (DevOps principle).

Major Responsibilities:

· Underpin platform implementations following the general change management processes

· Contribute to the migration of existing and creation of new applications on development, test and production platforms

· Ensure formal and documented hand-over of IT Services to operational teams

· Participate in technical projects in close cooperation with Development and relevant groups and ensure operational requirement are taken into consideration in design phase and test solution is matching operability constraint

· Chair & minute Problem Management Review meetings and then track Problem Management Review action items and own follow-up records, making sure action items are implemented as agreed

· Participate in incident and problem prevention activities

· Propose changes to fix problems and improve processes, seeking assistance when needed Interface to other teams in Operations, Development and Marketing.

Qualification:

· University degree in computer science or equivalent

· Very good understanding of SOA architecture and the interfaces to neighbouring systems

· Very good understanding of TCP / IP and communication protocols

· Good understanding of Automation tooling

· Good knowledge and proven experience with configuration management tool (Ex: Chef, Salt, Puppet, etc.)

· Very Good understanding of Unix and Linux

· Demonstrated proficiency supporting and coding in Java/Groovy/Scala or another similar language

· Familiar with agile working methodology

· Familiar with open source development methodologies and tools (Git, Jenkins, Maven, Cloudbees )

· Exposure to cloud systems and related ecosystem (CouldStack, OpenStack, AWS API, etc...)

· Understanding of monitoring tools and concepts

· Good knowledge on ITIL best practices

· Good knowledge of Relational and NoSQL solutions is a plus

· Very good analytical ability and skills

· IT background as a programmer, system support programmer or system administrator, Process re-engineering and optimization

· Excellent team player, eager to learn from others and to share skills with colleagues

· 2+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience and a record of individual technical achievement

· Proficient English level
