An industry-leader in the construction and civil engineering sector is currently seeking a Works Manager to play an integral role in the delivery of large, multi-million pound power generation schemes. Holding responsibility for the construction of a next-generation power plant in the South-West of England, this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation rapidly expanding in this area of the market.

Scope of work

Responsible for the management of a next-generation power plant in the south-west of England, as Works Manager you will be tasked with leading all stages of the construction process from the initial installation of reinforced concrete works to the inputting of structural steel frames, M&E Services and general furnishing.

The role will initially see you spend two years working at this facility, leading the construction in accordance with health and safety regulations with work of the highest quality. Managing a direct team of 4-5 engineers and 3-4 foremen, you will also have indirect responsibility for over 150 joiners and Operatives across the Civil Engineering works. Utilising your technical experience in reinforced concrete work and large scale power-generation/water projects, you will scope out how to achieve the best possible progress for the project, reviewing drawings and deciding the most efficient and effective method of splitting the construction process down. It's vital that you prioritise a health, safety, quality and environmental focus throughout this role.

After this project is completed, you will then be re-assigned to the next high-value, critical power generation infrastructure project the company has been selected to provide. Being a national role, it is therefore vital that you're comfortable working away from home during the working week in order to successfully manage the construction of multi-million pound infrastructure projects.

You will:

* Have extensive experience within Heavy Civil Engineering on large-scale projects within the Power Generation or Water sectors. Energy-from-waste expertise would be advantageous.

* Have extensive technical knowledge of how to control formwork and reinforce concrete

* Possess experience in man-management of permanent staff and sub-contractors

* Come from a hands-on, technical background within the civil engineering construction sector

* Be able to work from their facility in the South-West of England

* Be comfortable being re-assigned to a new infrastructure project within the United Kingdom after the initial two year period on this project. This may mean working away Monday-Friday.

The company

Turning over £150m with over 450 staff across the United Kingdom, the business is an industry-leader in construction and civil engineering within the Power Generation and Water sectors. They typically work on major infrastructure projects at values of around £200m.

Why apply?

The company is paying a basic salary of £60,000-£64,000 (however, for professionals working away from home, the organisation would consider a 15% uplift and monthly subsistence). They also offer a very competitive package that includes a bonus, company car/car allowance scheme, contributory pension upto 10% matched, private healthcare and 25 days holiday plus 8 stats.

If you meet the above criteria and are interested in applying for this role, please do so immediately. Interviews are set to begin shortly.
